Coulrophobia is the fear of clowns and this costume capitalises on the fact that this fear is not as rare as we often think it is! The black and green diamond print fabric on the costume is used in contrast with other fabrics and this is taken from the traditional clowns of the Commedia dell'arte.

This traditional form has been distorted by the addition of a grotesque clown mask with neon orange attached hair and if this is not disturbing enough our friends at www.fancydress.com have decided to make the costume a strait-jacket! This effect is achieved with a pair of fake padded arms sewn onto the front of the costume, whilst the models arms are behind his back. So not only is this costume frightening it is also sneaky!
