Zombies are reputed to be re-animated corpses and are thought to date back into the Afro-Caribbean belief in Voodoo, however versions of the living-dead appear in many other cultures - ours included.
Since The Night Of The Living Dead was released in 1968 it has gone on to attain cult status, (incidentally I'm often called a cult around our office). Chocolate syrup was used in this black and white film... mummm lick a Zombie today - yummy!
Our friends at www.fancydress.com have pushed the boundaries of good taste with this ragged costume! Several areas of the costume are ripped and they show moulded flesh and rotting vinyl bones sticking through. On a more constructive note they recommend using black make-up to paint the skin of the neck to give a more scary effect.
I know this is for boys but I've tried this on and it was lightweight and comfortable. The moulded sections are made of a light material and are not lumps of rubber so you should not get too hot. I'm not a fan of full-face masks, but this one is attached to a wig so you can make your appearance and then lift the mask up to have a drink at the party (I know what you boys are like!). It is not the cheapest costume I've found but it has all you need, though I'd still add some fresh blood.
I'm going to give this...
...as it's well worth a go!
